Moonlight picnic

WHAT: Full Moon Feast, a picnic under the stars

WHEN: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6

WHERE: Capitol Park Museum, 660 N. Fourth St., Baton Rouge

DETAILS: Bring a picnic basket of goodies or let a local chef create a special dinner ready for pick-up. Magpie Cafe, Indie Plate, Bergeron's City Market and Heirloom Cuisine will offer picnic packages. You can also add cocktails and wine pairings from Blend's head sommelier Scott Higgins (no outside alcohol permitted). Tables, chairs and linens will be available for a small rental fee or bring your own. Quiana Lynell will provide the entertainment. Proceeds benefit the museum.

Mouton lecture

WHAT: "Senator Edgar G. Mouton: Legislator, Humanitarian, Philanthropist, Orator: A Remembrance by Former Governor Kathleen Blanco”

DETAILS: An Acadiana native, Mouton served in the state Legislature for 16 years, becoming president pro tempore. Mouton was instrumental in securing state funds for the construction of the Cajun Dome, Cajun Field, the University Medical Center and the Lafayette Regional Technical Vocational Institute. He also worked to establish the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana, which brought elementary and secondary French immersion classes to Louisiana public schools.

Flowers & fashion

WHAT: Couture de la Fleur, a runway show featuring real flowers and fashion

WHEN: 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11

WHERE: LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens, 4560 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge

DETAILS: Presented by Friends of the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens at Burden, Mendel University of Czech Republic and the LSU School of Apparel and Design. Guests will enjoy wine, music and dessert and a meet and greet with the artists and models.
