CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Ah, slurping a booze slushy and picking at cotton candy while doing a post-punk dance and contorting in a funhouse mirror and Gang of Four blast loudly...
If this sounds like heaven - or even just a fermented hoot - c'mon down to Post Spitfire.
At 10 p.m. Friday, the bash will bring post-punk, alt-rock, goth and new wave to Funhouse, 1539 West 117th Street, Cleveland. DJ Shambles, aka Brandi McElhatten Woodward, will be spinning
"Just stuff I would love to hear in a bar... from Gang of Four, Sisters of Mercy, Devo, to things from Metric and The Afghan Whigs," says McElhatten Woodward, a regular at the bar going back to when it was called Spitfire.
In 2016, the Spitfire - a punk dive that ran for a decade - remade as Funhouse by owner Stosh Burgess. The spot now boasts a circus theme, optical-illusion art and arcade and table games - not to mention a list of vodka shushies, cotton candy and popcorn.
"I used to attend the Spitfire, I love that bar and that community," says McElhatten Woodward. "I also very much appreciate what Stosh has done with the Funhouse. I admire his humor and DIY approach to running his bar."
