Corktown's Red Corridor call it quits after less than a year in business

Wednesday, 29 November 2017, 01:02:00 AM. Corktown's Red Corridor is calling it quits after less than a year in business in the former Casey's Pub space.

On the heels of newly relocated downtown restaurant La Dulce announcing its closure last week, another food and beverage establishment has joined the fold: Corktown's Red Corridor has called it quits.

The bar announced its closure in a Facebook post last Friday. It closed following a farewell shift Saturday. Ownership thanked its patrons in another Facebook post Sunday:

Red Corridor took over the space formerly occupied by Casey's Pub in Corktown in late 2016.

Red Corridor courted controversy from the beginning. Following the closure of Casey's, the bar was reportedly slated to re-open as Hoffa's Hideout in partnership with Bobcat Bonnie's owner Matthew Buskard. Those plans were dashed after public outcry over the name, including from Hoffa's son.

In turn, Buskard backed out and partner Johnny Irwin opened the spot as Red Corridor. But bad press followed last spring when Irwin lashed out at a customer who left a negative review with an expletive-laden response.

No future plans for the space have been announced.
