A 42-year-old man stabbed to death outside a Brooklyn park was killed by a stranger he got into a random argument with, police sources said Saturday. George Carroll was walking down Monitor St. near McGorlick Park in Greenpoint with his wife when he became embroiled in an argument with two men about 9:30 p.m. Friday, police sources said. During the clash, one of the men pulled a knife and jammed it into Carroll’s chest. “Hopefully someone saw something,” Carroll’s stunned wife Christina Carroll, 41, said Saturday. “I was screaming. A lot of people were out, walking their dogs.” Paramedics raced Carroll to Woodhull Hospital but he couldn’t be saved. He was fatally stabbed just down the block from the couple’s home. “It still hasn’t sank in yet,” Christina Carroll said. Police speak to a woman believed to be the wife of the victim. The victim and his wife moved to Greenpoint in February and were looking to find another apartment in the neighborhood. “We moved from Cypress Hills because it was too dangerous,” Carroll said. “We weren’t sure we would like Greenpoint, but we loved it.”...Read more
