SOMERVILLE - A portion of a Bridgewater hotel was evacuated after police were told a guest inside one of the rooms was threatened with a handgun, the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office reported.
Justin M. Matthews, 37, and Deborah L. Nickerson, 35, both of Manville, were arrested after police were called to a hotel located on Route 22 in Bridgewater at 8:11 a.m. on Nov. 9, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.
The name of the hotel was not released.
The victim told police that Matthews pointed a semi-automatic handgun while threatening him, according to the prosecutor's office.
Police set up a perimeter and evacuated guests in nearby rooms. Both Matthews and Nickerson were taken into custody after police spoke to Matthews by telephone, according to the prosecutor's office.

A 9mm semi-automatic handgun, along with a .32 caliber revolver, were recovered from the room, the prosecutor's office reported.
Matthews was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, certain persons not possess weapons and fourth-degree aggravated assault, it was reported. Nickerson was charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not possess weapons.
