Collin Sexton's college basketball debut will be remembered as a good one.
The freshman guard scored a team-high 22 points and dished out five assists while leading Alabama to an 86-64 victory over Lipscomb in the team's home opener at Coleman Coliseum.
Fittingly, Sexton delivered the knockout blow with a three-pointer and then exited to a standing ovation with 1:49 left on the clock.
He wasn't the only Tide player who shined, however. John Petty scored 14 points and Dazon Ingram contributed 13 points, five assists and seven rebounds.

-- Alabama 71, Lipscomb 56 (5:43) Alabama's athleticism is taking over. Dazon Ingram threw down a dunk and then Collin Sexton made a nice no-look feed to Donta Hall, leading to another dunk on a fast-break opportunity.
-- Alabama 65, Lipscomb 54 (7:54) John Petty his a three-pointer in the corner. Petty, the team's other highly-touted freshman, has come alive, scoring seven points in the second half and making all three of his field-goal attempts.

-- Alabama 51, Lipscomb 44 (12:29) Lipscomb just committed its tenth team foul. So, John Petty went to the line and shot two free throws. He missed both.
-- Alabama 47, Lipscomb 42 (14:49) Collin Sexton and Herb Jones have made four straight free throws as the Tide has built a small cushion. The game is being officiated tightly in the second half.
-- Alabama 43, Lipscomb 40 (17:05) Right on cue, Collin Sexton converts the front end of a three-point play opportunity. But he misses the free throw. Alabama is shooting 5-of-18 from the foul line.
-- Alabama 41, Lipscomb 40 (18:13) Michael Buckland hits a three-pointer and Garrison Mathews makes a layup, drawing Lipscomb closer to the Tide. Alabama has missed its last three free throws and is shooting 31 percent from the line.
-- Alabama 40, Lipscomb 31 (19:11) Donta Hall scores on a transition opportunity, dunking the ball after receiving a pass from Collin Sexton. It was Sexton's fourth assist of the night.
People came to see Collin Sexton and so far he's delivered. Sexton has nine points and three assists in 13 minutes. He has also sparked the Tide's transition game. Twenty-six of Alabama's points have been scored in the paint and the Tide is shooting 57 percent from the field, creating opportunities in close range of the goal.

-- Alabama 26, Lipscomb 21 (9:21) After reentering the game, Collin Sexton knocks down a three-pointer -- causing the crowd to cheer loudly. Sexton has seven points.
-- Alabama 21, Lipscomb 19 (10:31) Alabama shows a full-court defensive set. Avery Johnson Jr. scored seven straight points for the Tide before he was replaced by Collin Sexton.

Alabama's starting lineup consists of forwards Donta Hall and Daniel Giddens along with guards John Petty, Collin Sexton and Dazon Ingram.
Sexton was the last to take the floor and was spotted using an exercise bike roughly thirty minutes before tip.
A small crowd is on hand, although there appears to be a strong turnout among students.
