Tonight, we have double the "Scandal" pleasure, with two back-to-back episodes to end Season Six in an epic way. The first hour, "Transfer of Power," focuses on Maya and the assassination threat at Mellie's inauguration. That episode sets up the action in the second hour, "Tick Tock," which covers the inauguration and Olivia's official transformation from white hat to black hat. Here's a recap:

Hour 1: "Transfer of Power"

The search is on for Maya (Khandi Alexander), Olivia Pope's mom and ruthless terrorist. Jake leads a strike team to an abandoned building where they think they'll find Maya. She's not there, but Jake finds evidence that Maya plans to assassinate Mellie during her inauguration parade.

Jake eventually finds Maya and arrests her. OPA thinks that Maya paid someone to kill Mellie, before realizing that Maya herself is the assassin. While questioning her mother, Olivia loses control and starts choking Maya. Jake drags Olivia off of Maya before things go too far.

Olivia argues that they should release Maya so she leads them to whoever is controlling her. Ftitz says no, but Jake releases Maya with a tracking chip implanted in her.

Quinn reveals to Abby that she is pregnant, but hasn't told her fiance Charlie.

Papa Pope argues that Fitz should reinstate B613 under Fitz's control. Papa Pope also feels that Olivia is becoming corrupted by power.

Hour 2: "Tick Tock"

Olivia and Fitz enjoy one last, steamy romp in the White House residence. On the following day, Mellie will be sworn in, Fitz will move to Vermont alone and Olivia will stay in Washington as Melllie's chief of staff.

Cyrus settles in to watch the inauguration on his sofa. Fitz arrives on the podium to the strains of "Hail to the Chief." Luna Vargas rocks a light-pink coat. As Melody Margaret recites the oath of office, Olivia's cell phone rings. It's Mom, who has overpowered a Secret Service sniper and has the gun trained on the VIP podium. Papa Pope shoots (but doesn't kill) Maya before she can pull the trigger. Mellie finishes taking the oath - she is the first female president of the United States!

Quinn asks Abby to take over OPA. She is leaving because normality would kill Charlie, who doesn't know she's pregnant. Abby offers to help with OPA and the baby. Quinn tells Charlie about the baby and he is thrilled.

The time comes for Fitz and Olivia to part. "Liv, I can't stay. I have a foundation to run and you have a world to change," he says. As Fitz walks across the White House lawn to board his helicopter, Olivia runs across the grass and launches herself into his arms for an epic kiss in front of the cameras.

Olivia accuses Luna Vargas, the widow of slain president-elect Frankie Vargas, of being behind the plot to assassinate Mellie. Luna points out that if she goes to jail, Mellie's presidency will be mired in scandal. From her hospital bed, Maya confirms that Luna was behind the plot to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony.

It's time for the inaugural balls. Mellie looks around her beautifully decorated Oval Office wearing a gorgeous red crystal-studded dress. She goes to collect Cyrus - who is asleep on his couch -- to be her date. Jake, wearing in his dress uniform, escorts Olivia, who is elegant in a black off-the-shoulder number that hugs her curves.

But first, Olivia and Jake take a detour to meet with Luna. They know that Luna was behind the assassination attempt at the swearing-in and - brace yourself! - that she was behind Frankie's murder as well! Luna reveals that she didn't want to be First Lady, and asked the Baddies just to make sure her husband didn't win, but things went further and Frankie was killed. Olivia and Jake offer her a choice - take pills that will make her death look like a heart attack, or let Jake kill her, strip off her clothes and dump her body in a ditch

Luna takes the pills. "Call me when she's dead." Olivia says to Jake as she departs.

Olivia gets Mellie to sign papers funding B613 without Mellie's knowledge. Olivia informs Papa Pope that she will run B613. "I want a father, but cross me again and I will kill you," she tells him. I think Olivia has officially taken off her white hat.

Cyrus joins Olivia as she sits on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Olivia reveals Luna was calling the shots for the Baddies. When Cyrus says the same phrases that Luna used, Olivia knows that Cyrus planted the idea to kill Frankie in Luna's head. Cyrus hints that Olivia should eliminate Luna; little does he know that that it's been handled. She will nominate Cyrus for veep.

Wow, the seventh and final season of "Scandal" promises to be the best yet. We'll have an evil, power-mad Olivia controlling the Oval Office, leading B613 and not afraid to kill. What will she do? Come back in the fall, Gladiators, to find out - and be sure to wear a black hat in honor of Evil Olivia.
