See free screenings of 'Elf' and 'It's a Wonderful Life' at Akron Civic Theatre

Wednesday, 15 November 2017, 08:26:11 AM. The holiday classics 'Elf' and 'It's a Wonderful Life' are coming to the big screen, and it comes with free popcorn.

AKRON, Ohio - Free screenings of beloved holiday films "Elf" and "It's a Wonderful Life" are coming to spread cheer at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 S. Main St.

An extra little gift: The showings even include a free popcorn. Tickets are required, and can be picked up at Akron's Wayside Furniture, 1367 Canton Rd., Lock 3, 200 S. Main St. and the Akron Civic Theatre box office.

"Elf" will be shown at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9. As part of the festivities, gather at Lock 3 for the second annual ELFcon. The party starts from noon-2:30 p.m. and continues from 4-8 p.m.

Put on your best "Elf" fashions and enjoy candy, candy corn and maple-flavored sweets, "Elf"-themed food and drinks and the "World's Best Cup of Coffee." It includes a holiday sing-along accompanied by the Civic's Mighty Wurlitzer organ that begins at 2 p.m. Throughout the day, you'll find an "Elf" costume contest, trivia and contests. Lock 3's winter fun will be in full force - enjoy Polar Putt-Putt, Reindeer Run Sled Hill, the Children's Museum and ice skating.

"It's a Wonderful Life" will be shown 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 15. The classic, released on Christmas Day in 1946, stars Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed.
