Stay cozy and a special kind of warm with the help of some of the local bars, breweries and vineyards in and around Adams County. Whether you’re looking to sip a craft beer or a homegrown wine, these four establishments have something to keep you warm as the weather grows cold.

Something Brewery

The Scoop: That “something” you taste when you sip one of this Brighton brewery’s creative drafts could be anything from cinnamon plum pear tea to mint chocolate. Something Brewery specializes in tea-infused beers and other unique drafts. Come for the layered flavors, stay for the Cards Against Humanity nights every Thursday, as well as other regular specials and events.

Bitto Bistro and Orchard Wine Cellar

The Scoop: Looking for a new, must-try wine bar? Head to Orchard Town Center mall and sample selections from Bitto Bistro and Orchard Wine Cellar. Bitto Bistro restaurant is the charcuterie board-slinging arm of the partnership, while the Orchard Wine Cellar retail store stocks hundreds of beer and vino varieties. Swing by between 3 and 6 p.m. for happy hour, and enjoy live music Wednesday and Thursday nights. Bitto Bistro offers a membership program that includes 10 percent off purchases in the wine cellar, among other deals.

Balistreri Vineyards

The Scoop: The Balistreri family has embedded plenty of Sicilian tradition into its vineyard and winery, which opened in 1998 on the north metro farmland, where the family once grew carnations. Balistreri vineyards only uses hand-picked Colorado and California grapes in its wines. The winery’s specialty is “orange” white wine, made by preparing white wine grapes in the style of a red wine, which creates a golden orange hue.

The Scoop: Big Choice Brewing recently brought its lineup of drafts and love of punk rock from Broomfield to a new tap room in Brighton. The brewery’s music-themed beers (categorized as headliners, guest performers, etc.) include a lime gose and poblano stout. Wednesdays at Big Choice are Bring Your Own Vinyl nights, so flip through your collection before you pop over.
