Weld County Sheriff’s deputies weren’t exactly dealing with a vicious dog situation when they were called to the 6700 block of Weld County Road 21 on Saturday.

But they may have been inclined to call for backup anyway, as the dogs in question were of the adorable kind.

Seven puppies were wandering on and around the road near Fort Lupton in southern Weld County when deputies arrived.

“Animal Control officer Steeves and deputy Rosebrock managed to get the puppies off the road and tried to get the puppies back on the property they were suspected to have come from, but the puppies kept finding ways (to get out),” the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post Saturday. “Deputies knew that if they left, the puppies would continue to get back out onto the roadway and risk the chance of getting hit by a vehicle.”

So, deputies took the puppies to the Weld County Humane Society, 1620 42nd St., Evans.
